Symbolic and Mythological Animals
Published in Paperback by HarperCollins (paper) (October, 1992)
Author: J. C. Cooper
Average review score:

The ultimate animal book
I found this book to be very informative and facinating. Hard to find mythical animals and beliefs on everyday animals fill this text including dragonflies, emus, spiders, dragons, griffins, ki-rins, and the hippocampus. An important addition to any mythological library.

Synthesizing Research : A Guide for Literature Reviews
Published in Hardcover by Sage Publications (March, 1998)
Author: Harris Cooper
Average review score:

Best buy for intro to meta-analysis
Among the various works on doing a synthetic literature review, I found this book to be the most informative for its size. All essential aspects seem to be well-covered. The much larger work co-edited by the same author only adds detailed treatment of statistical issues. The only drawback to the book is that it is written in the extremely dense prose preferred by psychology professors. If the style of psych journals puts you to sleep, you may prefer the similar work by Fink.

The Tale of Bear
Published in Paperback by Lothrop Lee & Shepard (March, 1995)
Author: Helen Cooper

This is my Daughter's Favorite Book!
We have four of Helen Cooper's books: The Tale of Bear, The Tale of Pig, The Tale of Frog and The Tale of Duck. They were given to us as a set and my daughter just loves them. They are perfect books to read to babies and toddlers as they rhyme beautifully and the illustrations are wonderful. My toddler wants us to read them to her all the time, over and over. She reads them to our cat and can remember words from the pictures. I have absolutely fallen in love with Helen Cooper's books and I am in search for more as we all enjoy them and never tire of reading them. I recommend this book for the baby set. I wish Ms. Cooper would write a Tale of Cat.

The Tale of Pig

A joy of a read for little people
The Tale of Pig along with the three others in the series by Helen Cooper; The Tale of Duck, The Tale of Frog, and The tale of Bear are such a joy to read to little children. We received them as a gift when my boys were 3 and 4 and now we read them to a friend who is two. They beg to hear them over and over. Each book shows how Timothy loves his toys and how he deals with the heartache his mischivious cat causes. Pig is met with the whoes of no longer being able to hold coins but Tim still loves him. The other great thing is the toys are in each book which is really fun! You are really missing out if you don't get a copy of each of these books!

Imaginative & charming-must have!!
Although neither of my girls(2 & 4)have a favorite 'blanky', this book will hit a chord with all parents. Helen Cooper's books are a delight for parents AND children. This book tells about the loss of a favorite bunny-and the adventures it has while it is lost. Really a delight!

Technology Strategies
Published in Hardcover by Prentice Hall (15 September, 2001)
Author: Cooper Smith
Average review score:

Refreshing change from the quantitative and methodological
Having read every book in the Enterprise Computing Series I was expecting something quite different. Where all of the other books in the series follow a People-Process-Technology structure, and are filled with methods and techniques, this departs from that formula and does so in a refreshingly fashion.

The author starts with the history of technology, listing many ancient innovations that are still in use today - plow, compass, and the like. He builds from there in the same manner that James Burke's "Connections" program that aired on The Learning Channel shows how ancient discoveries evolve into modern technologies. In fact, James Burke is cited, as are philosophers, historians, and contemporary technologists and business figures. This makes for interesting reading that is presented in lucid, thought-provoking prose.

Throughout the book the author never loses an opportunity to connect the past with the present. He also stays focused on business issues and reinforces key ideas with case studies and his own analysis. The practical aspects of this book are given in Chapters 3, 8 and 9, wherein advice and methods for managing technological change, developing business strategies and integrating technology are discussed in detail. These more practical chapters balance the 'softer' parts of the book and should satisfy both the hard core types who want methods, and the big picture types who want to see the whole fabric of technology. I usually fall into the former category, but found the book so thought provoking and interesting that my initial disappointment when I first thumbed through this book turned into delight as I read it.

If you want a book that provides quantitative methods, and leads to step-by-step through the process of technology management this is not it. However, after you get your fill of processes, procedures and number crunching you will benefit from the deep thoughts and holistic views that are so well presented here.

An essential, historical, comprehensive scholarly reference.
Now in a fully updated and expanded fourth edition, Ten Thousand Years Of Pottery continues to be a wonderfully lavish and illustrated history of pottery making from its antiquarian beginnings with the earliest Near East and Middle civilizations to the present day. A global perspective is taken with representations from the Mediterranean, Asian, Islamic, Meso American, neolithic Britain, to the Wedgwood and de Morgan factories, contemporary Africa, India, Scandinavia, and Australasia. Ten Thousand Years Of Pottery concludes with detailed and comprehensive analysis of the development off ceramics as a medium of personal expression by present day artists and studio potters. Ten Thousand Years Of Pottery is an essential historical, critical, scholarly, and very highly recommended reference drawing upon the immense informational resources and artifacts from museums, collectors, and practicing potters.
